"TIMELESS"
By Michelle Brueger,
Bennettsville, South Carolina
I’ve always been a daddy’s girl. On road trips, we competed over who sported the most hawks first. Our favorite competition was, upon seeing each other, who could say the words “I love you best” first. If I got him first, Dad would reply, “I’ll get you—just wait.”

My dad died the night before my 50th birthday. The next day, Mom brought me a gift, saying, “This is from your dad. He bought it for you five years ago.” Inside was a beautiful gold pocket watch. Engraved on the inside were the words I love you best—Gotcha.

I’m always wondering what counts as one of your five-a-day. I thought red wine might because it’s got grapes in it, but sadly not. Then I discovered something red that does count – Heinz Tomato Soup. One bowl counts as one of your five-a-day. How could I not have known that? Now I’ve got something to look forward to because, curled up on the sofa, what’s going to warm you through? A stick of celery? Or a bowl of tomato soup? Exactly. But, of course, it has to be Heinz.

Woman Dies From a Scratch
This news is about a woman from England. She was working in her garden when she scratched her hand. Not long after the scratch, she noticed pain in her shoulder.

She visited her doctor, but the doctor did not think that the scratch had anything to do with the pain. The doctor only gave her pain killers and sent her to a physiotherapist.

However, the woman and mother of two got worse. She went to hospital where doctors took her blood for tests. They found out that she was suffering from sepsis. The woman died two days later.

There are more than 150,000 cases of sepsis in the UK each year. Forty-four thousand people die from it.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The Parent's Train Problem
Child: Mom. Does she needs two tickets?
(As the child points at a huge lady in front, occupying two seats, in a gloomy looking train carriage. The mom, look around, she notices that other people is looking at her waiting on how she will respond as she thinks of possible words that will not offend the big lady seating in front. She gasps and inhales as deep as she can.)
Mom: Every human being has rights to be free, to be comfortable on a journey, to eat the amount of food that he or she wants. And to bear babies in her tummy. It doesn’t require extra ticket.
Child: But her luggage bag is as big as me.
